‘Working in the Woods’
Trailing on the baseline idea of relaxing in the serine atmosphere of nature when you work, Worklab Pune, is sculpted with wood and pastel colour tones balanced hand in hand with green wall and plants in this office space. Exploring nature through its indigenous ambiance we see green walls and wooden features melting in together rhythmically along with modern furniture complimenting their existence.
ORGANIC SPACES VS FORMAL SPACES
Previously being a hotel, this building now turned into a fully fledged office space, still functions on the basic ideology of a gathering space. Covering an approximate carpet area of 3255 square feet the reception and waiting area comprises of hot seating which is flexibility adjustable in functionality. The building also has a landscape area which has earth burms along the sides, reflecting themselves as mountains in the cute space. When the rhythmic lines from the furniture of the waiting area are seen along, they flow through these mountains and complete the picture of our scenery. The 3rd and 4th floors with an approximate area of 2515 square feet each have cluster office enclosures of 49 person capacity, which have a flexible function adjustment. The accesses are placed such that one can easily modify their workspace as per requirement and functionality. This setup is a beautiful amalgamation of organic and formal working spaces.
The entrance lobby consists of an 18 feet high atrium space which is the central focus of the office area. Also elements such as wall embedded work pods, 18 feet high green wall, and wooden grills hanging from the higher stories enhance ones presence in this space. There is a mural jharokha art piece in the central atrium area right above the entrance which is a reminder of the building’s story of being a hotel. The hanging wooden grills are absolute lines which enhance the essence of verticality. As nature is the core concept, these spaces are playful visuals of greens and browns, with hints of blue and balanced out with white.
INDIVIDUAL WORK PODS
The waiting area adjacent to the reception is sculpted with wall embedded work pods. These pods made with cushion backrest and seats are wall niches in bright orange and blue. The purpose although being a workspace, the setting is for a lone corner where one can explore their thoughts. It is a dual pod wall with a crisp stepping box cut within. This space is aesthetically efficient to claim itself as a visual pleasure, although it is completely functional as a work pod.
The whole building is styled as a gathering space. The reception and waiting has organic shaped tables which can easily accustom as per needs. Even if it is a office building the ambiance created is to work together in harmony. This space has no defined barriers. Hence the movement and useable ability are not constant, its always new! The ground floor also has a gym facility which has a cool interior theme. Playing in overtones of blue, the gym brings out the enthusiasm one feels within when in this space. Above is a terrace, which is an open café and refreshment area with indoor and outdoor activity area.
The elements, features and pastel tones along with white being at its maximum are the key ingredients to this recipe of a balanced space. This complete space of 15000 square feet, comprising of the ground, 3rd, 4th and terrace floor is designed with respect to ones psychological state of calmness to bring out the best performance by providing a relaxing atmosphere.

The façade displays a lovely range of colours with a complimenting grey. The client, Banyantree Realty, is a well known name in Pune, has a trademark of having a grey façade to most of their buildings. This trademark is playfully applied in the face of this building, with the amalgamation of natural beauty from the landscaping alongside.
