HERE Solutions is a location data and technology platform that moves people, businesses and cities forward by harnessing the power of location. The company needed to move their Research and Development facility into a new building at Goregaon-Mumbai. The design of this new space required three floors with accommodation for 595 occupants. HERE was seeking to create a space that could provide an open office concept with a collaborative work environment for all its occupants; a space that would be welcoming, barrier free and comfortable.  

HERE selected Beyond Design Architects and Consultants for the design of the project for our progressive approach and extensive experience in creating practical and welcoming workplaces. 

Beyond Design Architects, as the name indicates, has a vision to provide a holistic approach to each project, be it large or small, through the process of collaboration, mutual respect and continued learning. We work to enliven the spaces we create while meeting the design needs of the client.  

Beyond Design thoughtfully plans various types of collaborative spaces with consideration for the health and well beings of occupants, with special focus on space requirements for informal discussions. Discussion areas are distributed uniformly throughout a space so that all the occupants can benefit from use of these areas. By designing multiple types of collaborative spaces, both open and enclosed, occupants have more choices for working efficiently.  

Floor plans are framed to make the best utilization of natural lighting. Enclosed areas are centralized, giving occupants maximum natural light at their workstations in the designed open office concept.  

Floorplates have evenly distributed writable surfaces. The acoustics of the space are addressed through the use of various sound absorbing elements. A petal ceiling hanging over the collaborative areas seamlessly addresses the acoustics while making the area aesthetically pleasing. Acoustical spray plaster is used for sound reduction as are movable writable screens in workstation areas. Acoustical wallpaper and 0.9NRC ceilings in enclosed areas create soundproof meeting spaces.  

Diversity of tones is one of the key components of the design for HERE.  Starting with the reception areas on all floors, graphics are bold and zestful, depicting the vision of the company. The entry surprises visitors with its warmth and zeal. Moving towards the interview rooms, the theme of the reception areas continue. Upon entering the open office area, the story unfolds with a welcoming collaborative space with the mélange of tones in the carpet, ceiling and walls, creating a positive impact on employees irrespective of a big office floor plate. Moving forward, dark grey carpet highlights the passage through the workstation area as the carpet holds its identity as a purely workstation zone.  On each floor, workstation screens mark their presence with vivid colours.  

When employees find they need to take a break and stretch their legs, they can wander into one of the many collaborative spaces where the HERE story unfolds with celebration of colourful hues. Each component tells a dramatic story yet together they find symmetry and balance as it was meant to be. The rooms promote bursts of laugher, the birth of great ideas, and shared kindred spirit with one another. That’s how organic culture flourishes within the corporate glass boundaries: through design.  Once the boundaries are enhanced, miracles happen every day. To keep these intelligent minds motivated, HERE provides opportunities for ongoing learning through lectures and other extra-curricular programs. Those are conducted in centrally-located Townhall areas, capturing maximum attendance among employees.  

Employees who enjoy sports activities need not go far when they need a break from working. Table tennis, pool, and foosball are located in very well thought Recreational spaces. A digital gaming zone has not been forgotten and adds to these indoor sporting activities.  

The story does not end here. It upgrades to another level. Bringing great minds together to discuss their ideas, the meeting rooms and board rooms provided a quiet environment to think with a colour pallete to inspire minds to think big.  As people walk by, they are attracted by the splashes of color, inspiring them subconsciously to be the part of new technology discussions through this exceptional design philosophy.  

Simultaneously, the guests and colleagues from around the world enter specially designed spaces like Home Away From Home and Executive Dining for informal discussions and relaxation. The Experience Center, as the name indicates, is a display of technological innovations and welcomes the visitors with its unique design. 

Daily, employees visit the Cafeteria, a place where talk flows, food is shared, and new colleagues are met for the first time.  The design embraces user preferences and gives liberty for employees to choose the various types of seating such as booths, communal tables, restaurant-style, and lounge seating. While colourful hues continue to highlight the combination of seating, wall paneling and ceiling design adds to the music through its fluid design, maintaining the sound of the space. 

RIG Room, Critical rooms, Repro areas, Storage spaces service the users who work in highly secured data facilities. Rest rooms allow employees to take a break, and if feeling unwell the minimalist design works to soothes them. Uniformly distributed coffee points give “coffee break” a whole new meaning. Employees are at liberty to enjoy a cup of coffee without  venturing far from their desk. Rest Rooms serve its purpose with its balanced seamless design with the unique combination of Cyan, Brown, Beige and mirrored surfaces. 

This HERE office is a new benchmark in the company’s history as it celebrates with colour, space, form and function. The HERE team was pleased to see this newly opened office and expressed their gratitude to Beyond Design. It gave Beyond Design immense pleasure to serve our client with all our creativity, teamwork and practical approach.
